Privacy policy
Last updated: 29 April 2026
Geo Software Systems respects your privacy. This document outlines what we might collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, who may see it, and the rights you may exercise depending on your jurisdiction. We aim to describe practices in plain language; where law requires more detail, those obligations still apply.
- Who we are. Geo Software Systems operates geosoftwaresystems.com as an informational channel about gambling harm and recovery pathways. Primary contact: support@geosoftwaresystems.com.
- Data categories. We may process: information you voluntarily send via contact forms; technical metadata such as browser version, device category, preferred language, referrer, and pages viewed; aggregated telemetry if analytics tools are enabled. We do not aim to collect sensitive health data unless you choose to include it in a message.
- Use cases. Responding to enquiries, improving copy and performance, detecting abuse, and meeting lawful requests. We do not sell personal data.
- Legal bases. Depending on context: consent, legitimate interest in running a secure website, or legal obligation.
- Cookies & analytics. Essential cookies may be required for security or preferences. Optional analytics cookies, if added later, will honour applicable consent rules.
- Processors. Hosting providers, form processors, or security vendors may access limited data solely to deliver their service. We expect subprocessors to sign terms that restrict use and require appropriate security. A current list of main categories (hosting, email delivery, analytics if enabled) is available on request.
- International transfers. If data is stored or processed outside your country, we rely on lawful transfer tools such as standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions where required. Contact us if you need specifics for your region.
- Security. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures — for example access controls, TLS where supported, and vendor review — but no online service is risk-free. Report suspected incidents to support@geosoftwaresystems.com.
- Retention. Messages are kept only as long as needed to finish the conversation or satisfy compliance duties. Server logs and security telemetry are rotated or minimised according to operational need. Aggregated analytics, if used, does not aim to identify individuals.
- Your rights. Depending on region, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or withdrawal of consent. Email support@geosoftwaresystems.com to begin a request. We will verify identity where needed and respond within statutory timeframes (for example GDPR-style deadlines where they apply). You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
- Automated decisions. We do not use your data for solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and, where required, seek appropriate consent or offer human review.
- Children. The site targets adults. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
- External sites. We are not responsible for third-party privacy practices once you leave our domain.
- Updates. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a fresh effective date.
- Questions. Reach us at support@geosoftwaresystems.com.
Scenarios, incident response, and limits on use of data
When you use only the public pages, we may still receive technical signals typical of any website: approximate location derived from IP (often at city or regional level), device type, and which articles you opened. We use that information to keep the service secure, to understand which harm-reduction topics resonate, and to spot abuse such as scripted scraping. We do not combine that browsing data with purchased marketing lists, and we do not sell profiles to gambling operators or advertisers for targeted wagering promotions.
If you email us about your own gambling or a family member’s, treat the message as sensitive. We access it only on a need-to-know basis, store it under the retention rules above, and do not publish it. We cannot guarantee end-to-end encryption unless your mail provider and ours both support it; avoid sending full account numbers or government identifiers unless strictly necessary. If we become aware of a data breach that risks your rights, we will notify affected users and regulators where the law requires, describe what happened, and outline mitigations.
We do not use automated profiling to score you for credit, insurance, or employment. Analytics, if enabled, aims at aggregate trends — for example whether visitors read responsible-use pages after landing on the home article — not at labelling individuals. If you withdraw consent for optional cookies, we honour that choice in line with our consent tool or browser signals where supported. Nothing in this policy authorises third parties to re-identify anonymised statistics without a lawful basis and, where needed, your permission.
